More Aliens

Ohhkay, alien dump coming right up.

Let's start out slow with some Seans and Jims. *cue appropriate music*

I still am not sure whether Jim or Sean is the main character. Maybe they both are. Maybe it depends on the person reading. Maybe I should finish writing the story before I start worrying about main characters.

Here's some figuring out sketches of Ondlae. It got me thinking more about how these aliens work in general.

So I drew some kid. He might be kid Ondlae, I'm not sure. Anyway, hnlue (that's them) are born with these tentacle things down their face and all over... but for centuries their custom has been to cut them off. It used to have tribal/societal meaning. Now it's more of a fashionable thing. Also hnlue are big on appearing as human as possible, so they usually get the face one's trimmed.

Also an old daente.

OKAY ENOUGH OF THIS HOW ABOUT A NEW CHARACTER? C:

His name is Aien. That's pronounced like you're describing a guy named Ian. "A Ian". He's a full daente, like Sean would be if his mom were less of a slut, and hugely into gaining civil rights for him and his species.

Err basically a big issue with this universe is that its different species have begun to interact relatively recently, and the problem that pops has to do with determining which peoples should be included in the formation of government and which are too primitive to handle it. Daente are somewhere in between... that is, they're not full citizens (only seven or so species qualify as full citizens, btw), but they're certainly considered sentient and treated as people (albeit stupid ones) more often than as animals. They're making progress, though. It was very recently made illegal through most of the galaxy to eat daento babies. Apparently they're very delicious.

Anyway, daente for the most part are content to remain separate from foreign society, but Aien and his weirdo daento friends want to be CITIZENS. D:

Race will kind of be a big-ish point in this story.

BTW, Sean is not a full citizen, although he could test to become one thanks to his human half. He just doesn't want to.

AND SOME HEIGHT COMPARISONS. Daente are pretty small, and Aien's the smaller breed of small. He's somewhere around four foot on the right there. Next to him is a lady who's probably one of Sean's siblings... they're a different race than Aien is and are bigger (also colored differently but you can't tell here lololol). And on the right is Sean looking probably as tall as he ever will; he's half the taller daento, and half human, so he mostly just looks like a sortashort human. c:

Yeah, I got really into the height thing, so I drew the shortest character with the tallest. Lol Nad you're huge.

NRRGH OKAY that's enough rambling for tonight.

hurr aliens

Ohhh maaaan been character designing like a mofo the last week or two. Sean universe characters. I've said this before, but every time a new character enters this universe they develop the plot A LOT. Check it.

yeah this was on my DA, but in blogland it comes with more DESCRIPTION :D

Initially the story is "Sean and Jim and sci fi". Then Hrguay (fourth, the lady alien) appears and brings with her different groups/races/families that inhabit their planet. Then Nad (third, tall guy) pops up an suddenly this meaningless universe has a PLOT. Walker (fifth, the beard) comes in and helps me to figure out who/what exactly the antagonist of this story is (hint: it's not anyone in this picture). And finally Ondlae arrives just a few days ago, and now the story has an ending.

I estimate I've got three or four more characters to go before this story is totally developed. c:

SO ANYWAY left to right is

Sean, Jim Maeda, Nadra (Nad) Liin, Absalom Hrguay, Asimov Walker, Mue Ondlae.

They're all varying levels of a "main" cast. They definitely won't be all of it.

I'm extremely fond of Ondlae atm because he's newest.

So I drew him with one of his hos.

So Mue Ondlae. "may" "ond-lay", but he's pretty used to it being mispronounced "on-duh-lay".

He's a young and ruthless crime boss, the first one to appear in and heavily impact YS-11 (that's where this story happens, it's a moon) in, like, half a century. He's very much the typical "new money" type; he likes expensive and often tasteless things and places and women. When he's not throwing money away he likes plotting to take over the universe. \o/

Also, he and his ho represent the two main races of their species. The long-tentacled ones (ho) are generally upper class while the short -tentacled (Ondlae) are generally lower. It has to do with the longs taking over the shorts aaages ago back when they first started interacting with other planets. SO you can't blame Ondlae quite so much for wanting to show off his money. I'll get up the drawings in my sketchbook soon, and blab about some other characters. However, it is now 2 am and i probably should go to sleep.

I've been messing around trying to figure a good style to do comics for BA in. Should I actually do it. Which maybe I won't. Maybe.

I drew him more. |: Messed with the design a bit. Trying to keep him from looking too much like Jack Skellington. Also still feels too vert to me. Also also I think his name is Nad. :>

Oh. This was supposed to be a height comparison. Sean is kind of short but Nad is waaaaay tall.

Was browsing through vert-is-ninja's gallery today and ended up inspired to make a new guy. I can't tell if the inspiration is obvious or not yet...

Characters who I need to invent are like people with different body types than scrawny male and ladies, but I was in the zone so I ignored that and drew what I felt like (always scrawny men).

Ended up with this.

Still not sure what he's gonna do. I'm toying with a couple different roles he could fill up in Sean's universe. (I don't like putting people in that universe though cuz it still has no plot waaaaahh). I don't feel like I can name him until I figure out where he's gonna go. AHHH ANOTHER POST WITH NO LABEL.

I'm pretty confident that he is not upset about whatever happened to that face. Also I am so a fan of that overbite.

Also also his theme song is Poker Face. I've never seen that video till now, and I think it just makes this all better.
