hurr aliens

Ohhh maaaan been character designing like a mofo the last week or two. Sean universe characters. I've said this before, but every time a new character enters this universe they develop the plot A LOT. Check it.

yeah this was on my DA, but in blogland it comes with more DESCRIPTION :D

Initially the story is "Sean and Jim and sci fi". Then Hrguay (fourth, the lady alien) appears and brings with her different groups/races/families that inhabit their planet. Then Nad (third, tall guy) pops up an suddenly this meaningless universe has a PLOT. Walker (fifth, the beard) comes in and helps me to figure out who/what exactly the antagonist of this story is (hint: it's not anyone in this picture). And finally Ondlae arrives just a few days ago, and now the story has an ending.

I estimate I've got three or four more characters to go before this story is totally developed. c:

SO ANYWAY left to right is

Sean, Jim Maeda, Nadra (Nad) Liin, Absalom Hrguay, Asimov Walker, Mue Ondlae.

They're all varying levels of a "main" cast. They definitely won't be all of it.

I'm extremely fond of Ondlae atm because he's newest.

So I drew him with one of his hos.

So Mue Ondlae. "may" "ond-lay", but he's pretty used to it being mispronounced "on-duh-lay".

He's a young and ruthless crime boss, the first one to appear in and heavily impact YS-11 (that's where this story happens, it's a moon) in, like, half a century. He's very much the typical "new money" type; he likes expensive and often tasteless things and places and women. When he's not throwing money away he likes plotting to take over the universe. \o/

Also, he and his ho represent the two main races of their species. The long-tentacled ones (ho) are generally upper class while the short -tentacled (Ondlae) are generally lower. It has to do with the longs taking over the shorts aaages ago back when they first started interacting with other planets. SO you can't blame Ondlae quite so much for wanting to show off his money. CB

I'll get up the drawings in my sketchbook soon, and blab about some other characters. However, it is now 2 am and i probably should go to sleep.

Clothes

So then I was sitting in my basement and suddenly someone dressed in inspiration leapt from the ceiling and kicked me in the face, after which I drew lots of outfits.

There were a couple memes referenced.

Yeah, with these two. Tee hee inaccurate height difference.

Initially this started just with me trying to learn how to draw Sant's hips.

In their usual desian (c) namco game costumes.

So that Picco kid. He is from the desert so he tends to stick to that kind of theme. I think floppy and loose fitting things. The middle one is just supposed to be a formal version of his usual uniform, I don't think he'll actually ever wear cuz I don't think he gets promoted.

In other news I think I'm starting to understand his face. c:

So Sant. She's actually tougher to call than Picco or some of the other characters because she doesn't really have much connection to the region she's from. Women wear dresses in her world, but she tends toward the functional/manly because she's the ambitious man type. c: She also, as I learned while drawing, does not like to show much skin.

The right is the same formal uniform deal, except she WILL get to wear it someday.

Cold outfits. Shoulda just left it with their fuzzy uniform-coat things, like the doodle on the right, but tried for something different anyway. Picco does not understand cold.

PJs. They're both wearing pretty much the same thing except for the shirt difference. Man up, Picco.

So I have this ridiculous most likely unachievable goal of doing one digital painting every day all summer. I've been successful so far, but it's only been two days so.

Anyway, so I have this painting of Sant and since I wanted to ramble about it more I put it here. c:

I don't know that I've actually ever messed with her color scheme before. I'm not happy with it right now, actually, that green totally doesn't work with the blue. What I need to do is do a color drawing of everyone and see how they all look in uniform.

She looks totally Ion-ish. She DOES use light magic, so maybe that's okay. Christ, I bet she's blinding in white.

But anyway, I think I'm finally happy with her design. Finally christ on a fucking cracker.

Hm. Maybe I'll focus on this story in the paintings I do. Not exactly like drawing their comic, but maybe just painting characters and scenes. That sounds like a good idea, mandi.

The City

So I've actually kind of been working on this audition thing for Sovereign City. I know.

I don't know if anyone really reads this blog, but if you do I actually would like some feedback on this:

I actually have no idea what I'm doing with this style, but I'm enjoying it a lot. But is it confusing or eye-rape-ish? Does it offend? I'd like to do the whole tournament in this style, should I get in. Only hopefully better. You know.

(I'm holding off putting this on DA for now cuz I'm not sure if I'm totally done with it, lawlawlawl)

This'll be her ref pic. Still struggling with the colors. It's tough cuz, like, I'm not even gonna be using her colors, hahaha.

Again, if you're out there, what do you think? I hesitate to give her really bright colors, cuz then she looks less hoboish, but to much grey gets boring. I like a cool color scheme cuz it should make her look like a weakling. c:

Wanted to see how they'd look together in black and white, also figured I should decide how tall they are. Slug's pretty average, Rat's kind of short.

His name is probably going to stay Ratfaced, because it just emphasizes how much he fails at english grammar (even though he actually isn't the one who came up with the name). He's a self-taught ninja and also smelly semi-literate immigrant. c:

Neither of them have superpowers. GOOOOO TEAM HANDICAP.

These are older doodles, but I actually have no decent Rats on the computer. :/ It's mostly right, just his costume's changed.

Rat is kind of a smartass, kind of a flit, kind of a cynic, kind of a goof, and a really bad teammate who will probably be abandoning Slug whenever the going gets tough. He had the Slug devotion once, but he sure doesn't anymore.

Hopefully there'll be a lot more of these two. Cuz I don't have a clue what to do with them outside of this tournament, hahahaha.

sauce lineup

Uh, the file's name is "SOS Lineup". Sauce. Get it?

I might be jinxing myself by putting this here, seeing as how... any time I put a wip online, I never end up finishing it. BUT IT'S VERY CHARACTER-BASED and I want it here so I have an excuse to blab more. Also I'm tired of working on it now. Also I have also never made such progress on a lineup before so. CB

Anyway, main characters. Er. If Ishmael counts as a main character then Shaun might as well but I like Iggy a lot more than Shaun. So.

Holy shit they're all short. Left to right:

Ishmael: "Lackey". He's Jin's right-hand-bro and also occasionally they make out. He's twenty-three and five foot even (yes, he knows) and also eats people. He steals super powers by... eating pieces of people... although he usually just eats whatever dead bodies he can get a hold of which means they're ususally not super and he usually gets near-sightedness or irritability or something. Also he once ate his dad and this gave him super strength. \o/ He's intelligent, meaning he memorized the periodic table of elements and speaks four or so languages, and he's dumb, meaning he's been known to get into cars with strangers and not notice when people want to kill each other. He's the plan guy, not the idea guy.

Tee: "Asshole sidekick". Wanders around with Elli and Pippin helping them out sometimes but usually just sitting around whining or making fun of them. He's six foot and nineteen or so. He's blind but also sees the future, and is very very good at it. He can pretty much see whatever he wants, if he focuses right, although his future is based on choices and is very very changeable and not concrete at all. He's lazy and irritable and unfriendly, but he can be helpful and occasionally even give a shit. He's seen the end of the world four times.

Elli: "Hero". Drops out of high school to try and bring down terrorists with Pippin and Tee. He's sixteen and five nine and has a very noobish control of electricity. He has a pocket knife on a length of wire that he flings around to zap with. He's awkward and shy and has some self-esteem issues, but under all this he's actually quite a stubborn idealist. He's a closet pokemon fanatic.

Constantine: "Villain". An angry psychopathic pyromanic preteen. He's four ten or so and twelve or thirteen. He can light shit on fire with his fucking mind, which is filled with rage and he is slightly out of. He was kidnapped and "raised" quite poorly, by the way, which is the reasoning behind his unhappiness and interest in lighting people on fire. He was born in Quebec.

Pippin: "Loving sidekick". Elli's super duper bff and hater of Tee, third part of the main trio. Is five foot two and eighteen and super strong. Had a goofy mother who "trained" her to save the world since she was little. This means she is quite prepared to kick any villain ass that comes her way, although she tends to kick ass first and ask questions later, which nearly gets Elli killed before they become bffs. She's friendly and silly. Is a lesbian, was a cheerleader.

Jin: "Anti-hero". Terrorist leader and mega idealist like woah. She's five seven and is twenty five, I think. She heals quickly and from pretty much anything, which makes her rather tough to kill which has come in VERY handy. She's pretty single-minded and very good at convincing people to her side. She DID group pretty much every super powered bro in the country into one teamthing. A bit radical. Also a bit socially dumb. She gets ill REALLY easily.

I'm working on revamping this story, HOPEFULLY for the last time. You may notice I've given Jin a pronoun... if you care, her issues with gender are still there, but I won't be bringing them up much at all because... they've become totally irrelevant. Other things are I put Elli's mom in prison and finally abandoned Tee's haircut and inserted some logic into Iggy's existence.

We're getting there.

So the due date kinda for the com design homework got pushed up from monday to friday. I should work on that.

On the other hand, I'm not happy with it and would probably be happier to NOT have it in that show at all, so maybe it'll be best to NOT turn in on time.

There is so much rage in my heart right now.

Regardless, I'm feeling what I pray is not sickness coming on and really really not up to homework and I've exhausted all my bookmarks. YOU KNOW WHAT THAT MEANS.

These wips are probably the nicest looking things to ever grace this blog. :/

I've been doing a painter-y thing in photoshop for that com design project, so I figured I'd take another stab at that digital painting thing for myself. It's immediately easier in photoshop because I know photoshop, even though I know that it'd all look nicer in corel.

The thing about taking a stab at that digital painting thing is that I always lose interest/dislike the work/forget about it and they never get finished. IDK if that's where Killian is headed but it seems likely.

I was looking around and there really isn't enough of my Killian on the internets. I really do love working with him, even if he is totally a guilty pleasure character. His playlist is so powerful. I really can't do anything else when I listen to it but draw/write him.

He looks too clean.

Doodling around with Sovereign City in mind, I realize that I SUCK at this traditional super hero thing.

Honestly, I really just suck at drawing people wearing anything but a hoodie and jeans. Sigh.

He doesn't have a superhero or a regular name yet, and he looks too young here but I like to believe I have him down elsewhere. I like that the ears on his mask and his ears are the same. c:

This won't ever be finished and DA'd because I don't like it enough. I think my standards for DA have either greatly increased, or I just don't bother making nice things anymore. Regardless, this blog is certainly to blame.

I guess I can fill out that housing contract. That'll take up some time. Maybe even the hour I need that could be well spent on homework. c:

You know, versus a fan. Nerrrr...

I devoted one of the floppy sketchbooks I got for christmas to these fancharacters and their fanuniverse. It works very nicely actually. It's always packed with the right kind of inspiration.

Although there's also notes from that Da Vinci lecture thing I went to. But yeah besides that.

This is pretty much the whole thing so far. There are a shit ton of characters in this damn fanfiction.

Started with heads, of course. Interesting how I drew these, like, a week or two ago and I've already redesigned at least of of these guys. I wonder why they're all looking over their shoulders...?

Staelen and Ainsley. Basically got obsessive over drawing them out of uniform. This makes them almost totally original, which is kind of exciting. CB

Actually got really big on drawing Staelen for a few pages. This is me trying to figure out how the lady's uniform works. I cover them up so much more than namco does... :/ pruuuuude

Mostly though I was drawing her because I wanted to draw dresses. DRESSES DRESSES. Despite being a soldier she still likes to dress up on her days off. c:

Nerrrr this one didn't scan so well. It's a good group page for the card-playing slacker quartet (idk, my characters always break apart into groups, my brain has a clique problem, does yours?).

The top one is Staelen again with Kates who I just learned I had already given a first name to which is Findlay which I like a lot more than Phil. Apparently they're a couple or something? Then Nate Rivers who I totally need to develop more. Then a dragon which is totally irrelevant here. And Staelen again with Sergi.

As their title may suggest, they don't strive to get promoted and they play cards mostly. Except Kates who really doesn't belong in this group but somehow fits. ramblerambleramble

Oh, more quartet. Apparently I do love them. Scribble of Sergi making fun of crippled Kates, which really is not nice, Staelen with her hair down, which also is not really nice (looking), and younger Sergi in a Legolas sort of costume wondering at what his job was before he was a soldier. He actually looks a bit like Ishmael... that's probably no good. Oh well.

Trying to develop Kates more, although I don't like these newer drawings as much as the first ones I did. I do like drawing their sortamedieval costumes, I must admit. Also he gets a Cooksey hat because I recently learned how to draw them (thanks to dinosaurs) and also they're badass.

Heeee little Sergis. Little Mithos and big sister who's name I wrote down here as Donaline but I don't think I like very much. And grown-up Sergis up at the top there.

Elder Sergi is much more of an achiever than younger is. They work at different ranches... where he is still the bottom of the Desian ladder and she is just below the top.

Fun fact: pretty much all the ladies in this dump were in the same pre-army group. I believe Mithos here is the only guy who's mentioned to also be part of said girl-power group. tee hee.

Picco page. I've recently been learning what a freakishly religious guy he is. Before hooking up with the army he wandered around in the desert enjoying a number of "visions" which were undoubtedly caused by the fact that he was wandering around in the desert, probably not eating and also bleeding from the ear.

Don't like that top bust there, though.
